Mochi Stage Walkthrough Guide

Step 1: Make the Rice Dough

  • Sprinkle water into the wooden bucket filled with rice flour dough.
  • Continuously tap the dough with your finger to pound it with the mallet.
  • When the surface dries, add water again — repeat this 3 times.
  • Once smooth, move the dough into the wooden tray above.

Step 2: Prep Ingredients

  • Pound the mugwort leaves into powder with the long wooden pestle and move it into a bowl.
  • Crack 4 eggs into the upper-right bowl and whisk them clockwise until blended.

Step 3: Make Strawberry Jam

  • Slice strawberries in half and put them into the central bowl.
  • Add sugar and stir with a wooden spatula.
  • Transfer to a pot, cover, turn on the stove, and cook until jam is done.

Step 4: Make Chocolate Sauce

  • Slide a knife over the chocolate bar to break it into small chunks.
  • Put chocolate pieces into the pot, cover, turn on the stove, and cook until melted.

Step 5: Make Red Bean Paste

  • Scoop red beans from the sack, rinse them in water, and move to a bowl.
  • Grind the beans in a food processor.
  • Transfer to a pot, turn on the stove, and cook into red bean paste.

Step 6: Make Colored Mochi

  • Cut the rice dough into six pieces.
  • Color them by adding mugwort powder, chocolate sauce, red bean paste, egg yolk, and strawberry jam respectively.
  • Place the six colored doughs onto the long wooden tray.
  • Stuff each dough ball with matching fillings (egg yolk, chocolate, strawberry jam, etc.) by placing filling in the center and tapping to wrap it up.

Step 7: Decoration & Finish

  • Decorate the mochi: white = panda, pink = pig, green = frog, yellow = chick, brown = bear, red = puppy.
  • Sprinkle white sugar over them.
  • Finally, lift the teapot and fill the teacup with tea.
  • Stage cleared — beautiful, zen-like Mochi complete!
