Step 1: Pick the Tea Leaves

  • Pluck the four yellowing leaves and place them in the basket on the right side marked with a red cross — so you won't get it wrong.
  • Pick the fresh, healthy green leaves and place them into the bamboo basket on the lower left side. Collect a total of 6 leaves.

Step 2: Make the Tapioca Pearls

  • Add water to the pot and turn on the stove.
  • Add brown sugar and simmer to make brown sugar syrup. Scoop out a spoonful for later use.
  • Add tapioca flour to the pot and stir continuously until it forms a dough.
  • Move the dough to the cutting board, sprinkle more tapioca flour on top, and flatten it with a rolling pin.
  • Roll the dough into a long strip by hand, then cut it into small cubes.
  • Roll each cube into a small ball.
  • Boil the balls in the pot, then add the reserved brown sugar syrup. The pearls will turn a dark brown color.

Step 3: Prepare the Milk Tea

  • Add milk to the pot and turn on the stove.
  • Place a strainer over the milk pot.
  • Use a wooden spoon to scoop tea powder into the strainer, then add one tea leaf to it as well.
  • Use a metal spoon to scoop out some milk tea and pour it into a glass bowl.
  • Pour the milk tea into a plastic cup.
  • Scoop a spoonful of matcha jelly and add it to the cup.
  • Use a skimmer to scoop some pearls into the cup.
  • Add ice cubes, mango chunks, more matcha jelly, and top with cherry whipped cream.
  • Finally, skewer a few pearls and place them into the cup — and your Boba Milk Tea is ready!
